AAH - Association of Art Historians   

AAH was formed in the UK in 1974 to promote the study of art history. It represents the interests of art and design historians in all aspects of the discipline, including art, design, architecture, photography, film and other media, cultural studies, conservation and museum studies.  The Chair, Evelyn Welch, is also Chair of the ADM-HEA Management Advisory Board.

APHE - Association of Photographers in HE

The APHE was originally a semi-formal group of programme leaders who met annually to discuss issues emerging for photographic educators. It took its present form when the Association for Photography Degree Courses joined with the HND Photography Group in the mid 1990's.

DEED - The Design Education Association   

DEED was created in 1999 through the merger of the committees of GRADE and NA3DDE. DEED’s general aim, through conferences and the endeavours of individual members, is to promote and share good practice in both two- three- and four-dimensional design education. Its central concern within design education and through educational links with industry and professional practice, has been to explore ways of maintaining quality in a dramatically changing environment.

DHS - Design History Society  
 
DHS works to consolidate design history as a distinct field of study through its journal, newsletter, annual conference and other events. DRS - Design Research Society   

The DRS was founded in 1967 and is a multi-disciplinary international learned society for the design research community. It has facilitated a design research network in 35 countries comprising of members who maintain contact through the publications and activities of the society. The DRS publishes a free electronic newsletter and the international journal 'Design Studies'.

FTC - Association of Fashion and Textile Courses

The FTC website provides information especially for Fashion & Textiles Degree Courses in the UK. In contains information covering the institutions and universities, courses, and galleries. GLAD - Group for Learning in Art & Design  

GLAD started as a Teaching and Learning Steering Group of CNAA in the Autumn of 1989. It played a part in establishing the agenda for Learning and Teaching strategy development in a rapidly changing HE environment since the first GLAD conference in Liverpool in 1990. In the subsequent years a series of regional conferences led to the publication and wide distribution of a summary report. MeCCSA - Media, Communication & Cultural Studies Association   

MeCCSA represents the field of media, communication studies and cultural studies in UK higher education. The Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association was founded in 1999 when two previous associations in the field came together. MeCCSA's membership is open to all teachers and researchers teaching and researching these subjects in universities and colleges of higher education.

NACHE - National Association of Ceramics in Higher Education

NAHEMI- National Association for HE in the Moving Image   

NAHEMI was established in 1963 to represent all courses that offer a major practical study in film, video, animation and television. The Association's main aims are to act as a forum for debates on all aspects of film, video, animation and TV education, to foster links with Industry, the professions and Government bodies and to promote the members' creative work by offering student prizes and innovative exhibition, distribution or scholarship projects. NAHEMI maintains active links with the international film schools around the world. It supports the "Journal of Media Practice", which is free to members.

NAFAE- National Association for Fine Art Education

NSEAD has a membership drawn from every sector of education from the primary school to universities and is the leading national authority on the subject area in the United Kingdom. The NSEAD's principal aims are to promote and defend art and design education and to look after the professional interests of teachers in this area of education. Communication with members is maintained through occasional publications, the regular NSEAD Newsletter and the internationally respected Journal of Art & Design Education, and through the NSEAD web site. The Society provides frequent in-service education opportunities through a programme of international, national and regional events. Close contact is maintained with all the key government departments.

The RSN was founded in December 1998 by lecturers and researchers as an association whose aim is to encourage study and research in radio, and seek ways to improve its academic and cultural status. There are about one hundred members at present, and over twice that number participate in the radio studies discussion group. Also publish a newsletter.
